Casa di Lusso Named Finalist at Somerset Careers Awards 2026

Casa di Lusso Care Home in Bridgwater is celebrating after being named one of three finalists in the Best Newcomer Award for Careers Outreach at the Somerset Careers Awards 2026.

The awards ceremony took place on 2 July at the historic North Cadbury Court near Yeovil, bringing together organisations from across Somerset that are helping young people explore careers and develop valuable skills for the workplace.

For Casa di Lusso, the recognition reflects its growing commitment to promoting careers in health and social care and creating meaningful opportunities for young people to gain practical experience.

Supporting the Next Generation

A key part of Casa di Lusso's nomination was its involvement in a pioneering Supported Internship programme, which launched in September 2025.

The programme brings together Casa di Lusso Care Home, Bridgwater Community Hospital, Discovery, University Centre Somerset (UCS) and Polden Bower School, with support from Somerset Council.

Casa di Lusso was proud to host interns during their first placement rotation. Working alongside dedicated workplace mentors, the interns had the opportunity to develop practical workplace skills, build confidence and experience life within a care setting.

The team at Casa di Lusso has enjoyed seeing the interns become more confident throughout their placements and valued members of the wider team.

Creating Opportunities in Care

Alongside the Supported Internship programme, Casa di Lusso continues to work with local schools and colleges through careers fairs, workplace visits and student engagement activities.

These opportunities help young people learn more about the variety of careers available within health and social care, while giving them the chance to meet people working in the sector and experience a care environment first-hand.

Sareena Modommattathil, Home Manager at Casa di Lusso, said:

"We were absolutely delighted to be named finalists for the Best Newcomer Award for Careers Outreach at the Somerset Careers Awards 2026. Being recognised alongside so many inspiring organisations is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team."

She added:

"We are particularly proud of our involvement in the Supported Internship programme. Watching the interns complete their first placement with us, grow in confidence and develop valuable workplace skills has been incredibly rewarding."

Looking Ahead

The Supported Internship programme has been made possible through the commitment of colleagues across Casa di Lusso, who have worked together to develop and support the placements.

Being named a finalist is an achievement the team is proud of, recognising the home's work to promote inclusion, support young people and encourage the next generation to consider a career in health and social care.

Casa di Lusso looks forward to continuing its relationships with local education providers and community organisations, creating further opportunities for young people to discover the rewarding career paths available within care.
